High-Performance Adhesive for Thermal Insulation Boards XPS & EPS

1️⃣ Product Description

BOARD PLAST 1600

A polymer-cement ready adhesive with high adhesion, specially designed for fixing XPS and EPS thermal-insulation boards on different surfaces such as concrete, plaster, block walls, and facades.

It features high bonding strength, suitable working time, excellent spreadability, and outstanding resistance to moisture and shrinkage.

3️⃣ Uses

• Fixing XPS insulation boards for walls and ceilings.

• Fixing EPS boards for facades and EIFS thermal insulation systems.

• Bonding boards to:

  • Concrete

  • Block walls

  • Plastered walls

  • Various cement surfaces

4️⃣ Technical Properties

Composition: High-quality cement + fine sand + polymers + bonding materials + enhanced additives.

Mixing:

• Add 6–7 liters of water for each 20 kg bag.

• Mix for 3–4 minutes until a homogeneous paste is obtained.

Working time: 2–3 hours
Application thickness: 3–5 mm behind the board
Open time: Up to 20 minutes
Coverage: 4–6 m² per 20-kg bag (depending on surface)

5️⃣ Application Method

First: Surface Preparation

• Clean the surface from dust, oils, and loose materials.

• Lightly moisten the surface if it is very dry.

• Repair any weak or peeling areas before starting.

Second: Mixing

• Pour the correct amount of water into a clean container.

• Add BOARD BLAST 1600 powder gradually while stirring.

• Mix using an electric mixer to obtain a smooth, uniform mixture.

Third: Application

✔ Apply the adhesive to the wall using a notched trowel (6–10 mm).
✔ Add additional adhesive dots on the back of the board if needed.
✔ Install the XPS/EPS board on the wall with light pressure to ensure full adhesion.
✔ Use a level to adjust alignment.

Fourth: Drying

• Leave the boards fixed for 24 hours before any finishing work.

• Avoid direct water contact during the first 12 hours.

6️⃣ ASTM Compliance

The product is designed to meet the following essential requirements:

• ASTM C578 for XPS/EPS insulation boards (compatibility in adhesion and performance).

• ASTM C140 for adhesion and bonding.

7️⃣ Storage

• Store in a dry place away from moisture.

• Shelf life: 12 months in an unopened package.
