Technical Data Sheet for SuperFlex 1054 Ceramic Tile Adhesive
1. Product Description:
SuperFlex 1054 is a high-performance, polymer-modified cementitious tile adhesive specifically designed for the installation of all types of tiles, including ceramic, porcelain, granite, and marble. It features superior flexibility and exceptional bonding strength, meeting C2TES1 requirements, making it ideal for both interior and exterior applications, particularly in areas subject to movement, vibration, or thermal changes, as well as on challenging surfaces. It conforms to standard specifications.
2. Key Features:
High Flexibility: Offers exceptional flexibility, enabling it to accommodate expansion and contraction caused by thermal changes or building movement, thus preventing tile cracking or separation.
Superior Bonding Strength: Provides very high bonding strength to a wide range of surfaces, including concrete, mortar, and existing tiles (after proper preparation). Suitable for all types of tiles: Ideal for installing ceramic, porcelain, granite, and marble tiles, whether absorbent or non-absorbent.
Water and moisture resistant: Maintains its performance in humid environments and is suitable for use in bathrooms, kitchens, and outdoor areas.
High slip resistance: Provides strong initial adhesion that prevents heavy tiles from slipping on vertical walls.
Easy application: Features a creamy consistency after mixing, making it easy to spread and apply using a notched trowel.
Long pot life: Allows ample time for setting and installation before the tile begins to dry.
Suitable for indoor and outdoor use: Withstands harsh weather conditions and direct sunlight.
3. Typical applications:
Installing ceramic and porcelain tiles on walls and floors.
Installing natural and engineered granite and marble tiles.
Tile applications in bathrooms, kitchens, and swimming pools.
Installing tiles on outdoor surfaces such as balconies and decks. For exterior applications and tiling over existing tiles, provided a primer coat of Star Prod 1500 surface roughener is applied.
5. Application Instructions
Surface Preparation:
The surface must be clean, solid, and free from dust, oils, grease, cracked paint, and curing agents.
The surface should be as level as possible. If there are significant unevennesses, the surface must be leveled beforehand.
Prepare highly absorbent surfaces (such as very dry mortar) with water before application to prevent the adhesive from being drawn out quickly.
Ensure the surface is dry before starting application.
6. Preparing the Adhesive:
Gradually add the contents of one 25 kg bag of Super Flex 1054 to the recommended amount of water (5.5–6.5 liters) in a clean container.
Mix using a slow-speed electric mixer (less than 500 rpm) for 3–5 minutes until a smooth, lump-free mixture is obtained. Allow the mixture to stand for 2 minutes to fully saturate (flocculation), then mix again for 1 minute. The adhesive is now ready for use.
Application:
Spread a thin layer of adhesive onto the surface using the smooth side of a metal trowel.
Then, brush the adhesive with the notched side of the trowel, maintaining a 45-60 degree angle to ensure even coverage and proper tooth height.
Place the tiles onto the set adhesive within the specified “opening time.”
Press the tiles firmly with a light, sweeping motion to ensure complete contact between the back of the tile and the adhesive (80-100% coverage, especially for porcelain and granite).
Ensure adequate expansion joints are left between the tiles and along the walls.
Remove any excess adhesive from the tile surface and joints before it dries using a damp cloth.
Cure and Drying:
Do not move or walk on the tiles for at least 24-48 hours. Grouting (filling joints) can begin after 24-48 hours. For Ultra Joint (2000):
Do not expose the area to water or heavy loads for at least 7 days to allow for complete curing.
7. Safety Precautions:
Wear gloves, safety glasses, and a dust mask while mixing and applying the adhesive.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes. In case of contact, wash the affected area with clean water and seek medical attention if irritation persists.
Avoid inhaling dust. Use in a well-ventilated area.
Keep the product out of reach of children.

8. Storage:
Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and high humidity.
Must be stored in its original, unopened container.
